Welcome to registration for the
2011 Mountain Justice Fall Summit

October 28 - 30, 2011
Raleigh County, West Virginia

Your Contact Information (required)

Personal References (required)

Emergency Information (required)

Arrival/Departure (required)

Will you be here for the whole weekend [Friday evening through Sunday]? Can you come early and/or stay late? We're encouraging affinity groups to come early to prep thoroughly. If you're part of an affinity group, can you?

Sleeping Arrangements

We have space for tent camping on site. According to weather records for late October here:

  • the average high is ~60 and the average low is ~38.
  • The record high is ~75 and the record low is ~20—it could be cold so be prepared. On a clear night, the cold air will sink to where we are—it would be warmer on a mountaintop.
  • This data came from here.

If you need alternative housing please let us know so we can try to work that out.

Additional Information

Do you have any medical conditions, allergies or dietary needs we should know about? (e.g. bee sting allergy, nut allery, vegan etc)

Are you currently affiliated with another group or organization working on Appalachian or social justice issues?

Do you have any prior experience in civil disobedience?

Will you need an introductory workshop on MTR and other aspects of the issue?

Have you been to a past Mountain Justice Fall Summit, Spring Break, Summer Camp, Climate Ground Zero event, the March on Blair Mountain, Appalachia Rising, MTR roadshow or other Mountain Justice-esque events?  Which one(s)?

Are you willing to risk arrest? That's not required or expected for attendance.

Any additional information you would like us to know about you?

Medic Track

The Katuah Medics will be offering a 20-hour street medic training during the Fall Summit this year. Topics covered will include first aid/wound care, how to do an effective eye flush, and discussions on police weapons and tactics. Although further training is recommend, people with all levels (including no training at all!) are invited to attend. We also encourage folks who can't participate in the entire training to come out and support the training by volunteering as patients.

The medic track starts before the rest of the Fall Summit, so you'd need to arrive by the night of Thursday Oct. 27, and you will NOT be able to participate in any of the other workshops. You will be in class from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. Participation is capped at 12 people, with exception for extras to be granted upon review. So, register early to ensure your spot. Please also bring an additional $5 - $25 donation to cover the cost of materials and trainers, with no one turned away for lack of funds.

Yes, I would like to follow the medic track.

Registration Payment

Folks attending the summit are asked to contribute a minimum of $50 to $150 at time of registration. This will help tremendously in planning and purchasing food and supplies and paying for the infrastructure for the weekend. Any additional contributions will allow us to offer scholarships for those without the funds to attend the summit. If there are any funds remaining after the summit they will be used for ongoing campaigns to fight the destruction of our mountains and communities. Your registration contribution includes camping space, parking, delicious food, all workshops and field excursions. No one will be turned away for lack of funds, just please donate what you can.
