Non-Violence Policy
Historically coal companies have engaged in violence and property destruction when faced with citizen opposition to their activities. Mountain Justice works to embody non-violent philosophy and practice. Mountain Justice is committed to a strict nonviolence guideline and does not engage in property destruction or sabotage. The safety of Mountain Justice volunteers is essential and all participants are expected to share the same commitment to nonviolence and refrain from any act that is intended to cause personal harm to another or unreasonably places another at risk of personal harm
Mountain Justice has a security team that is committed to responding to acts of violence and dealing with each situation appropriately. Mountain Justice will respond to any case of violence promptly and require any person violating the Non-Violence policy to leave the event.
Anti-Harassment Policy
Mountain Justice has a strict policy regarding all forms of harassment, including but not limited to harassment on the basis of someone's race, color, culture, class, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender, age, ability, sexual orientation, genetics, or active military or veteran status. MJ encourages people to use respectful language when sharing ideas and communicating with others and all participants must refrain from crude or disrespectful language directed at others. Harassment will not be tolerated.
As defined by Mountain Justice, Sexual Harassment means verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when such advances, requests or conduct have the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual's state of mind by creating an intimidating, hostile, humiliating or sexually offensive environment.
Mountain Justice has a conflict resolution team and is committed to responding to complaints of any form of harassment and dealing with each situation appropriately. Mountain Justice will respond to any cases of inappropriate conduct promptly and will work to both eliminate improper conduct and implement corrective action as necessary.
